PPR stands for polypropylene random copolymer. Build it in four layers: product identity, quantity and packing, evidence, and commercial terms. State which pressure designation governs, and keep a deviation column. DESO’s product pages set out its pipe and fitting scope, and its inspection page describes its inspection process. Those pages are first-party claims. Confirm every size, document and order term in writing.

Why Does the RFQ Decide Whether Quotes Are Comparable?

Two quotes are comparable only when every bidder answers the same lines, in the same units, on the same delivery basis. A PPR pipe RFQ that leaves one field open does not get one answer. It gets one per bidder, and you spend the next week decoding them.

This checklist gives you a repeatable PPR pipe RFQ structure: four requirement layers, one complete line, a rule for unknowns, a substitute and deviation method, and a line-by-line comparison. DESO’s company background is a starting point, not independent evidence. Confirm product scope and documents on the quotation.

What Are the Four Layers Every PPR RFQ Needs?

Buyers often collapse a PPR pipe RFQ into a product name and a quantity. That is why a quote can look complete and still be unusable. Keep the four layers separate, then make each one explicit.

1. Product Identity: Which Pipe or Fitting Are You Buying?

Product identity comes first in a PPR pipe RFQ. Say whether you need pipe or a fitting, and whether the material is standard PPR or PP-RCT. PPR is a plastic used for hot- and cold-water piping. PP-RCT is a modified grade, not a synonym. Then give the pressure designation, outside diameter, wall thickness, length and end type. For pipe, outside diameter and wall thickness define the physical section; a nominal size alone does not. If the joint will be made by fusion (heating both surfaces and pressing them together), say so, because the pipe and fitting must match. Keep pipe and fittings on separate lines.

2. Quantity and Packing: What Unit Controls the Order?

The second layer of a PPR pipe RFQ is the unit that controls the order: metres, pieces, bundles or cartons. Say how each unit converts. Ask how many lengths are in a bundle or how many fittings are in a carton. If you are buying both, give a separate quantity for each. Add the packing you expect and how the order will be loaded: loose lengths, bundled lengths, cartons on a pallet, or a mixed container. Say whether the quantity is the order quantity or the loading target. That prevents a full-container quote when you only asked for a trial order.

3. Evidence: Which Documents Must the Quote Name?

The evidence layer of a PPR pipe RFQ names each document and what it must cover. “Certificate available” is not a document requirement. If you require a certificate, name its type, issuer, standard, product scope and validity. Ask for a batch record that names the material batch, production line, date and inspection results. Name the test report and packing list too. Then use inspection verbs: review, witness, measure, verify, approve or release. Say which activity applies at which stage, so each bidder prices the same work. DESO’s manufacturing page and quality inspection page describe its process as first-party claims; confirm the records for your order.

4. Commercial Terms: What Must Be Fixed Before Price?

The last layer of a PPR pipe RFQ fixes the delivery basis before you ask for a price. Name the Incoterm and the exact destination port or address, not just “CIF”. State the currency, payment terms, quote validity and who pays for inspection. Add the deviation route: where a bidder records anything it cannot meet. If you need private label, say so here, with the artwork, label and document requirements. DESO’s OEM page describes its private-label service as a first-party claim; confirm what applies to your product and market. These terms set the scope the price must cover, not the price.

Hero Product Highlight

PPR Aluminum Composite Pipe

Deso PPR Aluminum Composite Pipe combines the durability of PPR with the strength of aluminum for superior performance in hot and cold water systems.

    View Product

How Do You Write One Complete RFQ Line?

A complete PPR pipe RFQ line lets a supplier price it without asking what you meant. Write one line per family, in the order a supplier checks it. Never put a pipe and a fitting on the same line.

Line 07-01 | Family: standard PPR pipe | Standard: [buyer's standard]
Pressure designation: PN 20 | Size: 32 mm outside diameter
Wall: [value] mm | Length: 4 m | End: plain, for socket fusion | Quantity: 1,200 m
Documents: batch record, test report, packing list | Packing: bundles of [x] lengths
Delivery: CIF [named port], Incoterms 2020 | Deviation: [bidder to complete]

Read the line in supplier-check order: family, standard, pressure designation, size, wall thickness, length, end, quantity, documents, packing, delivery. Every dimension carries its unit. If your project uses DN, add the outside diameter beside it. DN is a trade label, not a measured bore. DESO’s PPR pipe range and PPR fitting range pages present its scope as first-party claims. On those pages, fittings are listed at 20 to 315 mm; standard PPR and PP-RCT pipe are listed at 20 to 160 mm. A 200 mm fitting does not mean a 200 mm pipe. List each size by family and confirm it with the supplier.

What Should You Do When the Standard or Pressure Class Is Unknown?

A blank field is not neutral. It invites each bidder to choose a standard or pressure class; four bidders can return four different products and prices. Mark the item UNRESOLVED. Name the decision owner and decision date. Attach the document that will settle it: a specification, drawing or written instruction from the buyer’s engineer. Until then, ask bidders to quote the unresolved line separately and state the assumption they used.

Keep PN, SDR and S series apart. PN is a nominal pressure class under stated conditions; it is not a working pressure at every temperature. SDR is a dimension ratio: outside diameter divided by wall thickness. S series is a separate pipe series number. They are related but not interchangeable. Say which designation governs your PPR pipe RFQ, and add the SDR or S value your specification uses.

How Should You Handle Substitutes and Deviations?

A PPR pipe RFQ should give every substitute its own line. “Equivalent” in a note is not a review. Ask for the offered family, standard, pressure designation, size, wall thickness, material grade and document set. Then ask for the exact differences: what changes, what stays the same, and how it affects fit, jointing and approval. If the substitute needs a different fitting or fusion tool, that belongs on the line too.

The deviation column is not an insult. It is where a bidder says what it cannot meet: a size outside its range, a document it cannot issue, a packing method it cannot run or a delivery basis it will not quote. An empty column means either full compliance or no review. Ask which. A stated deviation is easier to resolve before the deposit than after delivery.

How Do You Compare Quotes Line by Line?

Put every line on the same five columns. Do not compare totals until every line has a row.

RFQ line

Offered product

Documents

Delivery basis

Deviation

07-01 pipe, 32 mm, PN 20

Same family

Batch record, test report

CIF [port]

None stated

07-02 fitting, 32 mm

Alternate product

Certificate only

FOB [port]

Pressure class differs

07-03 fitting, 200 mm

Fitting only

Not stated

CIF [port]

Quoted pipe range ends at 160 mm

Add landed scope. Unit price is one line; the order is the total. Include packing, loading, freight to destination, unloading, inspection, documents and payment. A lower unit rate with weaker documents or a different delivery basis is not a lower offer.

Use the deviation column to expose mismatches. If one quotes FOB and another CIF, convert to one basis. If one includes a batch record and another says “available on request”, treat it as an open cost. The lowest landed cost is the lowest total for the same scope, not the headline price.

What Should You Not Accept in a Quote?

Do not accept these in a PPR pipe RFQ quote:

A unit price with no delivery basis, destination or Incoterm.

“Certificate available” with no type, issuer, scope or validity.

A substitute hidden in a note instead of its own line.

A blank deviation column presented as full compliance.

Mixed units: metres in one line, pieces in the next, with no conversion.

A quote that answers a different pressure class or standard from the one you named.

Each looks minor alone. Together they make the offers impossible to compare, and the gap usually appears after the order. Ask for a corrected quote, not an explanation.

FAQ

Is a Longer RFQ Always Better?

No. A complete RFQ is better. Length without structure pushes the real requirement into an attachment bidders may skim. Keep one page per product family, put the fields in supplier-check order and attach only the documents that control the requirement. A PPR pipe RFQ with twenty unused fields is harder to answer than one with eleven clear ones.

Should You Ask for FOB or CIF Prices?

Ask for the basis you can compare and control. FOB leaves freight and insurance to you; CIF puts them in the supplier’s price. Neither suits every market. If you ask for both in the same PPR pipe RFQ, name the port and the Incoterm version, and check what each includes. Then compare the two offers on the same landed scope.

How Many Suppliers Should Receive the RFQ?

Two or three is usually enough to test the market and keep the comparison manageable. Send the same PPR pipe RFQ, deadline and documents to every bidder. Add a fourth only when a critical size or document is not covered by the first three. More replies do not improve a comparison if each one answers a different brief.

What Is the Next Step?

Draft the four layers, write one line per family, mark every unknown and send the same PPR pipe RFQ to each bidder. Then compare landed scope, not headline rate. Send DESO your product list, destination market and order window to request the document checklist and a line-by-line RFQ template. Confirm sizes, pressure designation, records and delivery terms in writing before you approve a quote.

Get Free Quote

Quick Answer A PPR pipe RFQ is a comparison instrument.
